Not every situation needs a certified appraisal. If you are simply deciding what to ask for your car, whether a trade offer is fair, or what an inherited vehicle is worth before you sell it, a valuation gives you the number without the cost and formality of a report prepared for court submission.
It uses the same market research we run on a certified appraisal, documented and signed. It is based on photos and video of the vehicle, or a brief inspection, and scoped for your own decision-making rather than for a court, an insurer, or the IRS.
